Based on average exchange rates in 2025, Portugal uses the euro, which appreciated by 4.4% against the US dollar compared to the previous year. As a result, Portugal's exports became relatively more expensive for international buyers, particularly those purchasing in US dollars.
Portugal's five leading export products include vehicles, refined petroleum oils, bulk pharmaceuticals (not in dosage form), automotive parts, and rubber tires. Together, these categories accounted for 19.7% of Portugal's exports, indicating a relatively diversified export structure, although automotive-related goods remain a key segment.

Portugal's Main Export Markets
According to the latest available data, approximately 78.7% of Portugal's exports were absorbed by major trading partners, including Spain (26%), Germany (13.9%), France (12%), the United States (5.8%), the United Kingdom (5%), Italy (4.5%), the Netherlands (3.3%), Belgium (2.6%), Poland (1.6%), Angola (1.38%), Sweden (1.35%), and Brazil (1.35%).

Among them, pharmaceuticals recorded the fastest growth, rising by 49.3% compared to 2024. Machinery (including computers) followed with a 13.9% increase, while electrical machinery and equipment grew by 12.7%.
The only declining category among the top 10 was mineral fuels, which dropped by 19.6% year over year.
