This figure reflects a 7.7% decline compared to 2021, when Panama’s exports totaled US$13.4 billion. On a year-over-year basis, export value also decreased by 6.4% from US$13.2 billion in 2024.

Panama’s Key Export Markets
Recent trade data indicates that 61% of Panama’s exports were purchased by a group of major partners, including Colombia (8%), Venezuela (7.5%), Costa Rica (7.3%), the United States (6.8%), Guatemala (5.7%), Cuba (4.7%), the Dominican Republic (4.1%), Honduras (3.7%), Nicaragua (3.6%), El Salvador (3.4%), Ecuador (3.3%), and Chile (2.9%).
From a regional standpoint, Latin America (excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean) accounted for the largest share of Panama’s exports at 77.8%. North America followed with 9.2%, while Asia represented 8.2%.
Smaller shares of Panama’s exports were directed to Europe (4.5%), Africa (0.3%), and Oceania (0.05%), mainly Australia and New Zealand.
With a population of approximately 4.6 million people, the total value of Panama’s exports in 2025 translates to about US$2,700 per capita, lower than the roughly US$3,500 recorded in 2024.

Together, these top 10 categories accounted for 72.5% of the total value of Panama’s exports, indicating a moderately concentrated export structure.
Among them, gems and precious metals recorded the fastest growth, increasing by 49.4% compared to 2024. Beverages and spirits followed with a 9.3% rise, while vehicle exports grew by 3.1%.
On the other hand, the steepest declines were seen in non-knit clothing (down 30%) and footwear (down 23.6%) year over year.
At the more detailed four-digit HS code level, the most valuable components of Panama’s exports included packaged medicines (15.3%), smartphones and other phone devices (4.7%), perfumes and toilet waters (4%), alcoholic beverages such as spirits and liqueurs (3.7%), computers and optical readers (3.5%), printing machinery (3%), rubber or plastic footwear (2.8%), copper ores and concentrates (2.8%), jewelry (2.4%), and television receivers or monitors (1.8%).
