Located in the crossroads of Southeastern and Eastern Europe and sharing borders with Serbia, Hungary, Ukraine, Moldova, and Bulgaria, Romania exported goods valued at approximately US$109.1 billion worldwide in 2025. Romania’s exports continued to expand steadily, supported by the country’s strong automotive, machinery, and electronics manufacturing industries.

Compared with 2021, when Romania’s exports totaled US$88.4 billion, export revenue increased by 23.5% over five years. On a year-over-year basis, Romania’s exports also climbed 8.7% from US$100.4 billion recorded in 2024.

Based on average exchange rates in 2025, the Romanian leu strengthened by 6.7% against the US dollar compared with 2021, although it weakened by 3.1% between 2024 and 2025. The softer currency in 2025 improved the price competitiveness of Romania’s exports in international markets, particularly for buyers using stronger currencies such as the US dollar.
