Global pineapple exports continued their steady expansion in 2025, reaching a total value of approximately US$3.1 billion. Strong international demand for fresh tropical fruit, improving logistics networks, and rising consumption of healthy food products all contributed to sustained growth in the global pineapple trade.


Compared with 2021, when global pineapple exports were valued at US$2.1 billion, the market expanded by 44% over five years. On a year-over-year basis, export value also increased by 14.1%, rising from US$2.7 billion in 2024.


The global market remains highly concentrated among a small group of suppliers. The top five exporters—Costa Rica, the Philippines, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the United States—accounted for nearly 79.6% of total global pineapple export value in 2025.


From a regional perspective, Latin America and the Caribbean remained the dominant exporting region, generating approximately US$1.54 billion, equal to 50.2% of global exports. Asia followed with 21.2%, while Europe contributed 19.6% of worldwide shipments.


Smaller shares came from North America (6%), Africa (3%), and Oceania (0.01%), where exports are mainly driven by countries such as New Zealand, Fiji, and Australia.


For international trade classification, fresh and dried pineapples fall under HS Code 080430.

Top Pineapple Exporting Countries in 2025

Costa Rica remained the world's leading pineapple exporter, with export earnings of US$1.4 billion, representing 44.5% of global shipments.


The Philippines ranked second with US$538.3 million (17.6%), followed by several key exporting countries contributing significantly to global supply.


Other major exporters include:

1. Netherlands (7.8%, $238.2 Million)

2. Belgium (5.7%, $173.2 Million)

3. United States (4.1%, $125.5 Million)

4. Ecuador (2.7%, $81.1 Million)

5. Spain (2.3%, $69.5 Million)

9. Kenya (1.3%, $40.5 Million)

Collectively, these 15 countries accounted for 93.9% of global pineapple exports, showing a highly concentrated global supply structure.


Fastest-Growing Pineapple Exporters

Between 2024 and 2025, several countries recorded remarkable export growth in the pineapple sector.


Ghana led global growth with a dramatic increase of 414.7%, reflecting rapidly expanding export capacity. Mexico followed with 211.7% growth, while mainland China doubled its export value with a 100.5% increase. The Netherlands also recorded strong expansion at 44.1%, reinforcing its role as a key European trade hub for tropical fruit distribution.


On the downside, only two major exporters experienced declines. Taiwan recorded a -9.5% decrease, while Costa Rica saw a slight -0.1% decline, although it remained the world's largest exporter overall.
