In 2022, global exports of peanuts (also known as groundnuts) were valued at a total of US$3.84 billion. This represents a significant increase of 61.4% since 2018, when global export sales for peanuts amounted to $2.38 billion. However, from 2021 to 2022, there was a -7.3% decline in export revenues, down from $4.14 billion.

Peanuts are unique edible seeds of a legume crop, notable for their underground growth of peanut pods. Whole peanuts can be dry roasted, boiled, baked, or eaten raw as snacks. They are also used to produce peanut oil, peanut butter, and peanut flour. Additionally, peanuts have various industrial applications, including in the manufacture of paint, varnish, lubricating oil, leather dressings, furniture polish, insecticides, soap, and cosmetics. Peanut shells are used in the production of plastics, wallboard, abrasives, rayon cellulose for paper, mucilage, and fuel.

By value, the top five exporters of peanuts in 2022 were India, the United States, Brazil, the Netherlands, and China. Together, these countries accounted for approximately 49.9% of the world's exported peanuts in 2022.

In 2022, Latin America (excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean) led in peanut exports, with shipments valued at $1.21 billion, or 31.6% of the global total. Asia followed with 26%, then Africa with 21.7%, North America with 12.8%, Europe with 7.8%, and Oceania with 0.1%, including Australia, Fiji, and New Zealand.
