Introduction:The company is engaged in the processing, manufacture, and sale of steel rolling stock and other railroad equipment. The company was founded in 1930 when the company Societe Anonima Franchi e Gregorini was taken over by ILVA. In 1982, the Lovere plant became part of the state owned Group TERNI and in 1987 evolves into an individual company under the name of Lovere Sidermeccanica. As a result of the reorganization plans of Group TERNI, Lovere Sidermeccanica was acquired by the Lucchini Group and, in 1994, becomes Lucchini Siderurgica SpA. In 2002, Lucchini Group reorganizes its companies and activities in business units. It was incorporated in 1994 and has its registered head office in Brescia, Italy.<br>The company specializes in design and manufacturing of intended for all industrial sectors. The company boasts an international leadership in the design and manufacturing of railway products, steel castings, steel forgings, tool steels, and forges ingots. Lucchini Sidermeccanica focuses on the design, production and assembly of all type of wheel, tire, axle and wheelset to satisfy a wide range of applications in the rail and urban transport systems, according to ISO 9001 certification. The production of wheelsets supplied to the customers is completed with axle boxes, bearings, brake discs and drive units. In its LMF shop, Lucchini Sidermeccanica provides maintenance and overhaul service for all the components of wheelsets including, axle boxes, bearings, brake discs and drive units. The company's steel castings and forgings as well as forge ingots are used in power generation, aerospace, offshore, steel and iron industries; and shipbuilding, petrochemical and processing plants. Its tool steels are applicable in moulding plastic materials, extrusion, diecasting and gravity diecasting. All the company's products are manufactured in Lovere. The company's quality management system is certified according to UNI EN ISO 9001: 2000.
