Introduction:The company is engaged in the production and distribution of shock-absorbers in the original equipment- and aftermarket-segment of the automobile industry (OEMs). August Bilstein, a German entrepreneur, opened a foundry and galvanizing factory for the production of residential window hardware under the name AUBI (for August Bilstein) in 1873. The company operates a manufacturing plant in Hamilton, Ohio, and branch offices in Mooresville, North Carolina and North Haven, Connecticut.<br>The company’s products include: universal spare parts; suspension module; ball steering; rack/pinion; high performance shock absorbers; sport and threaded ride high adjustable kits; and others. Its shock bodies are precision formed through a unique seamless extrusion process. This provides superior strength along with high finish tolerances that are usually associated with surgical instruments. The shock body is then treated with a special paint finish durable enough to withstand grueling 240-hour salt spray tests. The finished body is mated with a solid, induction hardened steel chrome plated and polished shaft, machined valving components and quality seals. <br>The company became a division of Germany-based ThyssenKrupp Technologies AG in 1988, and a wholly-owned subsidiary in 2005. The parent company is one of the world's biggest technology groups and is is one of the world's largest steel producers and it operates worldwide in three business areas: steel, capital goods, and services.
