In 2024, Chile's total imports reached US$79.7 billion, marking a 29.8% increase from the $61.4 billion recorded in 2020.


From 2023 to 2024, the overall value of imported goods remained relatively steady, dipping slightly by -1% from $80.5 billion.


Using the average 2024 exchange rate, the Chilean peso weakened by 12.4% against the U.S. dollar compared to 2023. This depreciation made imported goods—priced in stronger U.S. dollars—more costly for local buyers.


Domestically, inflation in Chile averaged 3.9% in 2024, a notable decline from the 7.6% recorded in 2023.

Main Suppliers of Chile's Imports

According to the latest trade data, about 80.1% of Chile's imports originated from 12 main partners:

China (24.3%), the United States (19.1%), Brazil (9.5%), Argentina (8.7%), Germany (3.4%), Mexico (2.53%), Peru (2.53%), Spain (2.38%), Japan (2.3%), Italy (1.94%), South Korea (1.87%), and India (1.6%).
