In 2024, international purchases of beer reached a total value of US $18.5 billion.
This represents a 17.4% increase compared with 2020, when worldwide beer imports were valued at $15.7 billion. On a year-to-year basis, global spending on imported beer grew 3%, up from $17.9 billion in 2023.
The top five importing nations—the United States, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom—collectively accounted for 58.4% of total worldwide beer imports in 2024.
From a geographical standpoint, North America was the biggest market for imported beer in 2024, purchasing $8.1 billion worth, equal to 43.8% of global imports. Europe ranked second with 34.9%, followed by Asia at 11%.
Smaller proportions were imported by:
·Latin America (excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean): 5.7%
·Africa: 3.1%
·Oceania (mainly Australia, New Zealand, Fiji): 1.4%
