Officially known as the United Mexican States, Mexico purchased approximately US$663.6 billion worth of imported goods from international markets in 2025.

Compared with 2021, when Mexico's imports totaled $505.7 billion, that figure represents a strong 31.2% increase over the five-year period.

On a year-over-year basis, Mexican imports also expanded by 4.2%, rising from $636.8 billion in 2024.

Using the average 2025 exchange rate, the Mexican peso remained 5.8% weaker against the US dollar than it was in 2021, although it appreciated by 4.9% between 2024 and 2025. As a result, imported goods priced in US dollars became relatively more costly for  Mexican buyers when converted from pesos.

Main Sources of Mexico's Imports

Recent trade data indicates that 86.7% of Mexico's imported products came from the following major supplier countries: the United States (37.7% of total Mexican imports), mainland China (20.1%), Taiwan (7%), South Korea (3.5%), Vietnam (3.4%), Germany (2.9%), Japan (2.8%), Malaysia (2.4%), Thailand (2%), Canada (1.9%), Brazil (1.7%), and Italy (1.5%).

From a regional perspective, Asian suppliers accounted for 45.4% of Mexico's total imports by value in 2025, while North American trade partners contributed 39.8%. European countries supplied another 10.7%.

Smaller shares originated from Latin America and the Caribbean (3.7%), Africa (0.3%), and Oceania (0.1%), mainly Australia and New Zealand.

With a population of around 133.4 million people, Mexico's 2025 import spending translates to roughly $5,000 in imported goods demand per person, higher than the approximately $4,300 per-capita level recorded in 2024.
