Norway's total imports in 2023 amounted to $96.8 billion. This amount represents a decrease of -9.8% compared to $107.3 billion in 2022.

Smaller percentages came from Latin America (3.5%) (excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean), Africa (1.6%), and Oceania led by Australia (0.4%).

From 2022 to 2023, expenditure on machinery including computers, the highest import category product in Norway, increased by 8.1%. Benefiting from increased expenditure, the remaining import purchases were in the category of optical, technical, and medical apparatus, which grew by 0.6%.

The most severe declines in imports to Norway were observed in mineral fuels including oil (down -25.9%), furniture, bedding, signs, and prefabricated buildings (down -17.6% from 2022), vehicles (down -16.3%), nickel (down -15.6%), and plastics materials and plastic products (down -11.7%).
