Export News
2025-08-25
Situated on the northwest coast of South America, the Republic of Ecuador recorded US$34.4 billion in global exports during 2024.
That figure reflects a 70.2% increase compared to the $20.2 billion shipped in 2020, and a 10.6% year-over-year rise from $31.1 billion in 2023.
Since March 2000, Ecuador has officially adopted the US dollar as its national currency, a move that has helped stabilize Ecuador's export performance and attract foreign investment.
Recent statistics indicate that 77% of Ecuador's export shipments went to a few major markets. The United States ranked first with 20.4%, followed by Panama (18.3%), China (14.8%), and the Netherlands (3.3%). Other key destinations include Peru, Spain, Chile, Russia, Colombia, Germany, Italy, and Malaysia.
From a regional standpoint, 24.1% of Ecuador's export value was delivered to Asia, 30.3% went to Latin America (excluding Mexico), and 22.5% reached North America. The rest went to Europe (22.1%), Africa (0.8%), and Oceania (0.2%) led by Australia and New Zealand.
With a population of about 18 million, Ecuador's export data translates to roughly $1,900 per person in 2024, compared with $1,700 in 2023.
