Export News
2025-10-11
Located along the southwestern Atlantic coast of Africa, the Republic of Angola recorded an estimated US$39.3 billion in exported goods to international markets in 2024.
This figure marks a strong 86.5% increase from the $21 billion achieved five years earlier in 2020, underscoring Angola's expanding trade activity over the long term.
On a year-to-year basis, however, the growth of Angola's exports moderated to a modest 1.3% gain, compared to $38.7 billion in 2023.
According to 2024 exchange rate data, the Angolan kwanza weakened by -34.8% against the US dollar since 2020, and by another -25.3% from 2023 to 2024. The currency depreciation made Angola's export commodities — particularly those sold in U.S. dollars — more affordable for overseas buyers, boosting competitiveness on global markets.
The three major export pillars of Angola's economy are crude oil, petroleum gases, and unmounted diamonds. Together, these items represented roughly 90% of the nation's total export value in 2024, reaffirming Angola's dependence on energy and mineral resources.

With a population of roughly 38 million people, Angola's 2024 export total equates to about $1,050 per person, essentially unchanged from the per-capita figure reported in 2023.
