Global exports of fresh and chilled tomatoes were valued at US$11.6 billion in 2025, reflecting the continued importance of tomatoes in international agricultural trade.
Compared with 2021, when worldwide tomato exports totaled US$11 billion, the overall export value increased by 5.7% over the past five years. However, compared with 2024, global tomato exports declined by 3%, falling from US$12 billion to US$11.6 billion in 2025.
In 2025, the world's leading tomato exporters were Mexico, the Netherlands, Morocco, Spain, and France. Together, these five countries generated 69.3% of total global tomato export revenue, demonstrating the strong concentration of international tomato supply.
Among them, Mexico remained the largest exporter, accounting for 22.8% of worldwide tomato exports and maintaining its leading position in the global market.
From a regional perspective, Europe dominated global tomato exports, shipping products worth US$5.4 billion, equivalent to 46.6% of worldwide exports. North America ranked second with a 30.2% share, followed by Africa at 13.3% and Asia at 9.2%.
Smaller contributions came from Latin America (excluding Mexico but including Caribbean countries), which represented 0.7% of global exports, while Oceania, led primarily by New Zealand and Australia, accounted for just 0.1%.
For customs classification purposes, fresh or chilled tomatoes are identified under HS Code 0702.

The following countries recorded the highest export values for tomatoes in 2025.
1. Mexico: US$2.7 billion (22.8% of global exports)
2. Netherlands: US$2.3 billion (19.7%)
3. Morocco: US$1.3 billion (11.3%)
4. Spain: US$1.1 billion (9.4%)
5. France: US$704.8 million (6.1%)
6. Canada: US$578.9 million (5.0%)
7. Belgium: US$419.8 million (3.6%)
8. Türkiye: US$402.2 million (3.5%)
9. United States: US$274.1 million (2.4%)
10. Italy: US$255.5 million (2.2%)
11. Azerbaijan: US$192.5 million (1.7%)
12. Mainland China: US$176.6 million (1.5%)
13. Portugal: US$147.6 million (1.3%)
14. Tunisia: US$144.4 million (1.2%)
15. Poland: US$143.3 million (1.2%)
Combined, these fifteen countries accounted for 92.9% of the total value of tomato exports worldwide in 2025.
Among the leading suppliers, Tunisia recorded the strongest year-over-year growth, with tomato exports increasing by 85.3%. It was followed by the Netherlands (+20.2%), Italy (+14.6%), and Morocco (+13.3%).
Meanwhile, several exporters experienced lower export values compared with 2024. The United States posted the largest decline at 36.0%, followed by Mexico (-20.7%), Mainland China (-8.7%), Türkiye (-5.4%), and Canada (-4.6%).
