Worldwide exports of cement generated approximately US$14.1 billion in 2025, reflecting continued global demand for construction materials.
Over the five-year period since 2021, the total value of exported cement increased by 3.7%, rising from $13.6 billion when international cement shipments were previously valued.
Compared with 2024, global cement export sales recorded a 6.9% year-on-year increase, growing from $13.2 billion.
The largest cement exporters in 2025 were Vietnam, Türkiye, Egypt, Germany and Canada. Combined, these five major suppliers accounted for 35% of worldwide cement export value, showing that a significant portion of global supply comes from a limited number of key markets.
Cement is one of the most important materials used in construction. It is commonly traded as grey or white powder, as well as clinker — hardened pieces produced by heating limestone and alumino-silicate materials such as clay.
By product category, Portland cement dominated global cement exports, representing 64.5% of total shipments. This is largely due to its widespread use in producing concrete, mortar, stucco and grout. Cement clinkers accounted for 26.5%, while other hydraulic cements and aluminous cements represented 7.4% and 1.7%, respectively.
From a regional perspective, Asian countries exported the highest value of cement in 2025, with shipments worth $6.1 billion, equal to 43% of global cement exports. European exporters ranked second with 30.4%, followed by suppliers from Africa at 17.6% and North America at 5.9%.
Smaller shares came from exporters in Latin America (2.6%), excluding Mexico but including Caribbean countries, and Oceania (0.1%), mainly led by New Zealand, Fiji and Australia.
For trade classification purposes, cement products are categorized under the 4-digit Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) code 2523.
