Global exports of pesticides were valued at US$43 billion in 2024.
The overall value of pesticide exports increased by an average of 2.2% over the five-year period starting in 2020, when the global total stood at $42 billion.
On a yearly basis, worldwide pesticide exports dipped by -1.8% compared to $43.8 billion recorded in 2023.
The five top pesticide-exporting nations in 2024 were mainland China, the United States, India, Germany, and France. Together, these key players represented about 58.6% of total global pesticide export sales.
From a regional perspective, Asia dominated global pesticide exports in 2024, generating $17.6 billion, equivalent to 67.8% of the world total. North America followed with 20.7%, while Latin America (excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean) accounted for 6.9%.
Smaller contributions came from Europe (2.6%), Africa (1.4%), and Oceania (0.6%), led by Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji.

Categories of Pesticides Exported
According to the Harmonized Tariff System (HTS), pesticides fall under code prefix 3808, which includes subcategories such as herbicides (including anti-sprouting and plant-growth regulators), insecticides, fungicides, disinfectants, and rodenticides (as well as other plant protection agents).
Below is the percentage breakdown of the most valuable pesticide types exported in 2024. Miscellaneous chemical subcategories not listed accounted for the remaining 3.5% of total exports.

·Fungicides: 23.2%
·Disinfectants: 8.1%
·Rodenticides & other plant protection products: 4.7%
The fastest-growing segment from 2023 to 2024 was rodenticides and other plant protection products, showing a 10.2% increase.
In contrast, herbicides recorded the sharpest decline, with exports falling -6.3% year over year.

Here are the 15 leading countries ranked by the total export value of pesticides during 2024:

Together, these 15 countries accounted for 82% of all pesticide exports worldwide in 2024.
Among these leading exporters, those that expanded their export revenues since 2023 include mainland China (+11.3%), South Korea (+8.0%), Italy (+4.5%), and the United States (+1.9%).
Conversely, the countries that saw the largest decreases in pesticide export values were Israel (-30.6%), Hungary (-16.3%), France (-13.8%), United Kingdom (-13.7%), and Spain (-10.2%).
