Worldwide wine exports across all producing countries reached an estimated US$38.3 billion in 2025. This figure reflects an overall decline of -6.6% compared to 2021, when global wine shipments were valued at around $41 billion.


On a year-on-year basis, international wine trade remained relatively stable, slipping only slightly by -0.6% from $38.5 billion in 2024.


The global wine market continues to be dominated by a handful of major producers. The leading exporters—traditional “Old World” countries such as France, Italy, and Spain, alongside “New World” producers like Australia and Chile—together accounted for 73.1% of total global wine exports, slightly higher than the previous year.

Regional Breakdown of Wine Exports

From a continental perspective, Europe remained the dominant supplier, generating approximately $30.3 billion in wine exports, equal to 79.1% of global trade value.


Other regions contributed more modest shares:

· Oceania (led by Australia and New Zealand): 7.5%

· Latin America: 5.9% (excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean)

· Asia: 3.3%

· North America: 2.4%

· Africa: 1.7%

For classification purposes, wine made from fresh grapes is categorized under HTS code 2204.

The 15 largest wine-exporting nations in 2025 were:

1.France — US$12.6B (33%)

2.Italy — $8.8B (23%)

3.Spain — $3.4B (9%)

4.Australia — $1.6B (4.2%)

5.Chile — $1.5B (4%)

6.New Zealand — $1.3B (3.3%)

7.Germany — $1.12B (2.9%)

8.Portugal — $1.12B (2.9%)

9.United States — $850.4M (2.2%)

10.Argentina — $647.8M (1.7%)

11.South Africa — $631.5M (1.6%)

12.Belgium — $567.8M (1.5%)

13.Singapore — $492.3M (1.3%)

14.United Kingdom — $490M (1.3%)

15.Netherlands — $457.5M (1.2%)

Together, these countries accounted for roughly 93% of global wine exports in 2025.


Growth and Decline Trends

Among top exporters, the strongest growth came from:

· Portugal (+10.5%)

· Spain (+8.4%)

· Netherlands (+8.1%)

· Italy (+3.8%)


Meanwhile, several countries recorded declines, led by:

· United States (-32.1%)

· Australia (-11.2%)

· Belgium (-8.4%)

· Chile (-6.1%)

· Singapore (-5%)
