The global diamond trade generated approximately US$65.1 billion in export revenue during 2025, reflecting the continued importance of diamonds in international commerce despite recent market challenges.


Compared with 2021, when worldwide diamond exports were valued at US$119 billion, total export earnings declined by 45.3% over the five-year period. On a year-over-year basis, diamond exports also experienced a significant downturn, falling 23.6% from US$85.2 billion in 2024.

Leading Diamond Exporting Nations

The international diamond market remains highly concentrated among a handful of major suppliers. In 2025, the top five diamond-exporting economies were India, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, and Belgium.


Together, these five exporters accounted for approximately 74.2% of total global diamond export value, underscoring their dominant role in the worldwide diamond supply chain.


Diamond Exports by Region

Asia maintained its position as the largest diamond-exporting region in 2025, with shipments valued at US$41.3 billion, representing 63.5% of global diamond exports.


European countries ranked second, contributing 14.9% of worldwide diamond export sales, while North American exporters generated another 13.1%.


Other regions accounted for relatively smaller shares of the global market:

· Africa: 8.3%

· Oceania (primarily Australia and New Zealand): 0.1%

· Latin America and the Caribbean (excluding Mexico): 0.04%

For customs and trade classification purposes, unmounted and unset diamonds are categorized under HS Code 7102.

14.Namibia — US$816.2 million (1.3%)

15.Canada — US$705.7 million (1.1%)

Combined, these 15 countries were responsible for 96.2% of all diamond exports worldwide in 2025, highlighting the concentration of the global diamond trade among a limited number of exporting nations.


Export Performance Trends

Among the leading diamond exporters, the United Kingdom was the only country to achieve positive growth in 2025, recording an 18% increase in export value compared with the previous year.


In contrast, several major exporters experienced substantial declines. The sharpest decreases were reported by:

· United States (-37.4%)

· Canada (-34.1%)

· United Arab Emirates (-32.5%)

· Botswana (-26.5%)

These figures reflect ongoing adjustments in global diamond demand, supply chain dynamics, and changing market conditions.
