Global exports of maple syrup and maple sugar reached US$709.9 billion in 2025, highlighting continued international demand for maple-based sweeteners.
Compared with 2021, when worldwide maple product exports were valued at $570.8 million, total export revenue increased by 24.4% over the five-year period.
On a year-over-year basis, export value climbed 13.9%, rising from $623.3 million in 2024 to $709.9 million in 2025.
Maple syrup is widely enjoyed as a topping for pancakes, waffles, French toast, oatmeal, and other breakfast dishes. Beyond table use, it is also an important ingredient in baked goods, desserts, beverages, confectionery products, and natural sweetener applications. Maple sugar and maple candies remain popular specialty products in many international markets.
Canada continues to dominate the global maple products industry, supplying 85.1% of worldwide maple syrup and maple sugar exports by value in 2025, an increase from 83.3% recorded in 2024.
Looking at exports by region, North America accounted for approximately 91% of total global maple product exports, driven almost entirely by Canada and the United States. Mexico contributed virtually no maple syrup exports during the year.
European exporters represented another 8.4% of worldwide shipments, while exporters across Asia (0.3%), Oceania (0.2%), Africa (0.1%), and Latin America (0.05%) supplied only limited quantities.
For customs classification, maple syrup and maple sugar products are primarily identified under HS Code 170220.

Together, these 15 leading exporters accounted for approximately 99.3% of all maple syrup and maple sugar exports worldwide in 2025.
Among the major suppliers, the fastest year-over-year export growth was recorded by Slovenia (+108.8%), followed by Australia (+63.6%), Denmark (+43.5%), and Germany (+39%).
Meanwhile, export values declined for several countries, including Spain (-37.4%), the United States (-11.6%), and Sweden (-1.1%).
On the demand side, the United States remained the largest importer of maple syrup and maple sugar, purchasing 53.5% of global imports in 2025. Other significant destination markets included Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and Australia.
