In 2024, total global exports of electric vehicles (EVs) reached US$141.5 billion, marking a transformative period in the global auto trade.
This figure represents a 133% surge compared to the $37.7 billion recorded in 2020, showcasing rapid expansion over the past five years. However, on a year-over-year basis, electric car export values declined by 7.3% from $152.6 billion in 2023.
Despite this short-term dip, electric vehicles still made up 14.8% of the $958.9 billion in total automobile export revenues for 2024. This marks a slight decline from their 15.7% market share in 2020, indicating a temporary slowdown in EV trade momentum.
Electric vehicles fall under Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) code 870380, introduced in 2017 to specifically categorize EV trade flows.
In 2024, the top five electric vehicle exporting countries were: Germany、Mainland China、Belgium、Mexico、South Korea
Together, these nations contributed a commanding 74.6% of total global EV export revenues.

·Europe led all continents with exports totaling $75.6 billion, representing 53.4% of the worldwide total.
·Asia ranked second, contributing 35.2% of electric vehicle shipments.
·North America showed notable growth with 11.2%, up from 5.5% in 2023.
·Africa, Oceania (mostly Australia and New Zealand), and Latin America (excluding Mexico) had much smaller shares, accounting for 0.1%, 0.02%, and 0.01%, respectively.
