In 2025, Spain's imports reached a total value of US$513.3 billion, reflecting strong demand for foreign goods across multiple sectors.
This figure represents a 20.5% increase compared to 2021, when Spain's imports amounted to US$426.1 billion. On a year-over-year basis, import spending rose by 13.7%, up from US$451.3 billion in 2024.
Based on average exchange rates for 2025, Spain uses the euro, which appreciated by 4.4% against the US dollar compared to the previous year. As a result, Spain's imports priced in US dollars became slightly more affordable when converted from the stronger euro.
Domestically, Spain recorded an average inflation rate of 2.217% in 2025, down from 2.867% in 2024. Meanwhile, Spain's imports accounted for about 2.1% of total global imports, which were estimated at US$24.259 trillion.

Spain's Major Import Suppliers
The latest trade data shows that 69.4% of Spain's imports were sourced from key partner countries, including Germany (13%), France (9.9%), China (8.9%), Italy (8.1%), the Netherlands (7.2%), the United States (5.6%), Portugal (4.1%), Belgium (3.7%), Poland (2.33%), Morocco (2.25%), the United Kingdom (2.22%), and Türkiye (2.1%).
Looking at regional distribution, European countries supplied 61% of Spain's imports, making Europe the dominant source region. Asia contributed 19.9%, while Africa and North America accounted for 7.5% and 7.3%, respectively.
As a member of the European Union since 1986, Spain maintains strong intra-EU trade ties. In 2025, EU countries provided 56.8% of Spain's imports, slightly higher than 55.7% in 2024.
Smaller shares of Spain's imports came from Latin America (4.2%) and Oceania (0.2%), led by Australia and New Zealand.

Together, these top 10 categories accounted for 60.6% of the total value of Spain's imports.
Among them, non-knit clothing and accessories saw the fastest growth, increasing by 29.3% compared to 2024. Pharmaceuticals followed with a 27.1% rise, while machinery (including computers) recorded a 25.8% increase.
In contrast, mineral fuels posted the slowest growth, with a modest 0.3% year-over-year gain.

At the more detailed four-digit HS code level, the most significant items within Spain's imports included crude oil (6.3%), cars (5.6%), packaged medicines (3.9%), automotive parts (2.8%), petroleum gases (2.5%), refined petroleum oils (2%), smartphones (1.8%), blood-related medical products such as antisera (1.5%), computers (1.3%), and insulated wires or cables (1.1%).
Collectively, these products made up 28.8% of Spain's imports in 2025.
