Exports

In 2022, Cameroon exported $6.25 billion worth of products to the world. This figure represents a 44.7% increase in exports compared to $4.3 billion in 2021.


Cameroon's five main exports are crude oil, LPG, cocoa beans, sawn timber and bananas (including plantains). Together, these five major Cameroonian exports account for 81.9% of the country's export sales.

1. fossil fuels including petroleum: $3.9 billion (62.5% of total exports)

2. Cocoa: $735 million (11.8%)

3. Wood: $701.9 million (11.2%)

4. Fruits, nuts: $279.1 million (4.5%)

5. aluminum: $97.8 million (1.6%)

6. machinery including computers: $95.5 million (1.5%)

7. Rubber, rubber products: $88.6 million (1.4%)

8. Cotton: $46.5 million (0.7%)

9. Coffee, tea, spices: US$31.1 million (0.5%)

10. Copper: $19.7 million (0.3%)


Copper is the fastest growing of the top ten export categories, growing 454.3% from 2021 to 2022. The second highest growth in export sales was in the fruit and nut products category, which grew by 425.6%. Cameroon's machinery shipments, including computers, ranked third in terms of growth, up 228.5 percent.


The only decline in Cameroon's top 10 export categories was cotton, down -82% year-on-year.


More detailed HTS codes show that Cameroon's ten most valuable exports are crude oil (35.5% of the country's total revenues), petroleum gas (26.2%), cocoa beans (8%), sawn timber (7.8%), bananas including plantain (4.4%), logs (2.2%), cocoa butter, fats, and oils (1.9%), cocoa paste (1.8%), unwrought aluminum (1.5%), and natural rubber (1.5%). 1.5%) and natural rubber (1.3%).
